It is great to be back at school and thank you to all the parents staff and students who have welcomed me back. I am not quite fighting fit but filled with energy by being around young people who inspire me. I am particularly delighted to see more new clubs popping up this week The Debating Society relaunched, and today students were enthusiastically supporting Children in Need. Look out on our Facebook page for what we were getting up to.

On Monday we bid a sad farewell to Mrs Miller our receptionist who has found a new job closer to home. I am sure you will join me in saying how much we will miss her - she was the font of all knowledge and looked after us all.

Finally can I thank you for the support you are giving with attendance, despite Covid impacting on us slightly, school attendance is excellent at the moment - thank you and keep it up students!

 

Science Department - Tassomai Science Independent Learning

Well done to all the students who have been completing their daily goals on Tassomai.  This week the school has collectively answered over 36,000 questions. If this continues every week, we will achieve more than 1.8 million questions this academic year. Debate Club is back

This term's first debate was attended by 26 people who heard some superb speeches about whether or not the monarchy should be abolished.  Teah Jackson very ably chaired the debate and the motion that the monarchy should be abolished (argued for by Sky Jackson and Jesse Kocher) was carried by 19 votes to 7 despite some great counter-arguments by Ria Casey and Ryan Thomson.

The next debate is 'This House believes that we should all be vegetarian' and will take place on Thursday 2nd December at lunchtime in G05.  All are welcome!

 

Consultation on Admission Arrangements for East Sussex Schools 2023-2024

East Sussex County Council has launched its consultation for admission arrangements for its Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools via the consultation hub.

It is also available on the East Sussex County Council website via this link: Consultation 2023-24 – East Sussex County Council together with consultations from own admission authority schools which have been received to date.

The consultation opened on 15 November 2021 and closes on 15 January 2022, to coincide with the closing date for receiving applications.

 

Children & Young People’s Christmas Choir @ St Mary’s Church

Do you like to sing?  Come and be a part of our special Christmas Choir and sing at our Carol Service on Sunday 12 December at 6.30 pm.   We are inviting all young people to two rehearsals after school on Friday 3rd and 10th December and then again for a whole choir rehearsal on Sunday 12^th, meet at 5.45 pm.

The Friday rehearsals will run from 3.30-4.15 with hot chocolate and biscuits for all!

Christmas Craft Fayre & Performing Arts Showcase December 8th 2021

We have had plenty of interest with stallholder reserving their stands. It's all very exciting, we have stalls selling quilts and eco stitched gifts, art/paper cutting, natural vegan remedies, Christmas cards, jewellery, pottery, glassware, wax melts, plants, flowers and lots of crafty things for Christmas stockings.

There are still places available, so please spread the word and contact  ringmer.finance@kingsacademies.uk to reserve a stall. 

Everyone is welcome to attend the Christmas Craft Fayre from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm

2. The National Sleep Helpline – 03303 530541

The National Sleep Helpline helps anyone with sleep issues including adults, parents and young people. The helpline is available from 7pm and 9pm, Sunday to Thursday on 03303 530 541. 

Poor sleep can affect anyone and it can be a major stress for parents whose own sleep can be impaired by their children's difficulties getting to sleep, staying asleep or staying in their own bed, leading to greater stress.

Having a sleep issue is surprisingly common. At any given time, this affects up to 40% of adults and 50% of children (this rises to 80% with a SEND diagnosis). These problems are typically persistent and do not resolve themselves without intervention.

Families often don't know where to seek help and yet issues can often be nipped in the bud with basic and accessible interventions.
