Dear Parents and Carers,

As we draw to a close for this half term, I want to again thank you for your support so far this year. Our students continue to set the bar high and I continue to be proud to lead the school. We have had a number of candidates in for current vacancies over the last few weeks and we continue to receive positive comments regarding the school culture and positive attitude of our students.

Year 11 are now within 100 days of their final GCSE exams, and I have been impressed by their work ethic and dedication to attend additional intervention classes across the week. We are now in the final push, and every day counts. Year 10 are setting the standards locally and nationally, with over 2% above national average attendance and almost 4000 achievement points for positive contributions to lessons.Year 9 have ended the half term with the most achievement points for 'excellent pieces of work'. Year 8 have attended the most extra-curricular clubs, and Year 7 take the accolade for the most overall achievement points - over 18000! Well done to all for the effort put in.

I continue to be impressed by the creative side of the school, with over 85 signed up for this year's production of Matilda. For a school of our size to have so much interest is a testament to their creativity and desire to be part of the school community.

Next term sees our 'Careers Breakfast', on 4th march from 8.30am  to 10.30am. This is an opportunity for all our students to meet professionals from a range of professionals, set up as stalls at the school. If you would like to support and present a career path to the students, please get in touch with our careers lead Sarah Colbourne on sarah.colbourne@kingsacademies.uk.

I look forward to our parent forum this evening, where we will discuss agenda points raised. As always, I am happy to hear of views through this forum and remain committed to improving the levels of communication moving forward.

I hope you all have a positive half term

Best wishes,

Mr Harvey

“Quand La Chandeleur est claire, l’hiver est par derrière”

French classes have been celebrating the French harvest festival of La Chandeleur, which falls on February 2nd each year.  Superstition says that a clear day on the 2nd of February means that winter is over.  Let’s hope that’s the case! Whether spring has sprung or not, the students enjoyed celebrating the symbolism of the crêpe representing the sun, and topping and eating pancakes together.

Year 8 French classes have been completing a speaking assessment this week, by acting out a scene at a café. They have practised their greetings, ordering food, small talk and payment. Mrs. Thompson had the pleasure of observing some of these groups and was absolutely blown away by the quality of this work!

This Week's Cover Photo

This week's newsletter cover photo was taken by Sam Harris in Year 10, who is a Photography student. Wonderful picture Sam! If you would like to submit a photo from school for the newsletter please email Mrs. Thomspon at ringmer.marketing@kingsacademies.uk.

Year 11 students can now view their Mock Exam timetables in Edulink. Please encourage your child to check their entries on Edulink for the expected tier, etc. They should also be able to see their individual exam timetable and seating. Please see Ms. King in the exams office if there are any queries.

Mrs. White has shared some more photos of DT classes with their wonderful projects.

The Year 11s practical GCSE pieces are really coming together. Their deadline is fast approaching. Well done everyone.
