Art Department - Year 8 Buildings Work

Our year 8s have been creating some fab work using a randomised game inspired by artist Hundertwasser.

Hundertwasser did not like using rulers in his work at all (M4E for him) but believed in the use of natural flowing lines. Students have used a mix of oil pastels and watercolours to replicate the vibrant colours he used in his art.

This collaborative piece can be seen on display in reception. Well done year 8s you are being fabulous young Artists.

Change News

Spade 2 spoon club took their first harvest this week of Radishes! Radishes are a great vegetable to grow as they mature in 6 weeks. (Not to everyone's taste though as they can be a bit spicy!)

We are battling the brambles, nettles and bindweed. Students have been working hard digging these up so we can plant out some of our successful young plants that are desperate for more space and give them room to grow.

Food Technology Department

These two weeks Year 7 and 8 are building their understanding on working with meats and knowing their key kitchen temperatures. It’s been smelling rather lovely after their turkey burgers and lamb Koftas this week!

Firstly, with the weather getting better, it has been great to get outside and teach the planned lessons rather than having to be indoors.  Can you please therefore ensure that students have a drink with them for lessons.

An expectation from PE and Dance has always been that if students are unable to take part in lessons they should still bring their kits and get changed (where appropriate) so that they are still able to take an active part within the lessons.  We have noticed that some students are starting to bring kit which is inappropriate to wear for lessons.  Please can you ensure that if the correct kit is not available then something very similar is worn.  Students will be asked to change into some appropriate kit if not.

We look forward to an excellent summer term.

Best Wishes, PE & Dance Team
