International Focus: 1st-5th July

As part of our quest to develop well-rounded, world-ready students, King's Academy Ringmer is proud to host its second International Day on 4th July.

The focus of the day will be to add an International element into our lessons and celebrate our status as part of a global community. There will also be a special All American menu - look out for posters around the school!

This day will be a non-uniform day and students are encouraged to incorporate the colours of any National flag into their clothes that day.  This can be as simple as for example a yellow T-shirt to represent Brazil, or a full costume paying homage to the country of their choice.

Usual standards of presentation will still apply; we request no crop tops or exceptionally short shorts, no dangly earrings etc.

There will be a voluntary donation of £1 on parent pay, and funds will be used to further enrich activities hosted on future international events.

International Day falls neatly into our Cultural Week, when we are delighted to welcome 24 Chinese students and their teachers to spend a week with us.  I am sure that the students will give a warm Ringmer welcome to our guests, and be polite and smiling in all interactions.  In the absence of a common language, smiles and positive body language go a very long way!

Change News

We took a group of students on the minibus to Laughton Community Woods, a beautiful ancient woodland. Our session was led by Charlie, a forest school practitioner. We enjoyed participating in activities including a senses game, a woodland walk, looking for clues of local wildlife and identifying some of the native trees. The students enjoyed making nature art using leaves and a hammer and started fires with flint and steels. They cooked marshmallows and ate smores before heading back to school. It was a very enjoyable experience and the students loved being both outside and engaging with nature. The woods were lovely and cool on such a hot day!

More information about Laughton Greenwood can be found on their website www.laughtongreenwood.co.uk

SCHOOL UNIFORM Official NEW pre-loved outlet for Kings Academy Ringmer - RAYSTEDE

At Kings Academy Ringmer, we recognise that school uniforms become outgrown or redundant at some point. As part of our commitment to reduce waste and ensure there are opportunities for these items to be reused we now have an exciting new partnership with our local charity Raystede.

Raystede will now start stocking preloved uniforms at their headquarters and animal rescue centre premises: Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, the Broyle, Ringmer, East Sussex, BN8 5AJ . They will have a dedicated area for Kings Academy Ringmer uniforms and we are encouraging families with uniforms that still have life in them but are no longer needed to be donated to Raystede. The stock will be dependent on donations from our school community.

Pre-loved uniforms can be donated to Raystede directly at the address above, (or via the school where we can take them to the premises). The charity will take 100% profit from any money raised from the sale of these items. So please only donate items that you believe are suitable for resale.

Alternatively preloved uniforms can be obtained from our school uniform Facebook page (Kings Academy Ringmer Uniform Group) will continue to operate if parents prefer to directly trade second hand clothes amongst themselves, or you can still  purchase new uniforms at the new uniform outlet www.monkhouse.com
