Dear parents and carers,
It’s been a real pleasure to welcome our students back after the Easter break – there’s a genuine sense of energy and purpose across the school. Whether in lessons, assemblies, or at lunch and break times, the enthusiasm with which students have returned has been fantastic to see. As we head into a busy and exciting summer term, it’s clear that our community is ready to make it count.
A focused start for Year 10
A particular mention must go to our Year 10 students, who have returned with great focus as they continue their mock examinations. Their approach to revision and classroom engagement is a credit to them and shows real maturity as they prepare for the transition into their final GCSE year.
Assemblies: Purpose and Respect
This week, assemblies are centred around two powerful themes: Finding Your Purpose and Showing Respect. We've encouraged students to reflect on their ‘WHY’—what motivates them, what matters to them, and how that can guide their actions. We've also linked this to the Olympic values of respect—not only towards others but towards themselves. The response from students has been thoughtful and inspiring.
In a particularly memorable moment, our Year 7s took part in the new “Olympic sport” of bottle flipping, based on our values of Ready, Respectful, Safe. To the delight of everyone, they successfully landed the bottle not once, not twice, but three times! A brilliant example of fun, teamwork, and determination.
Looking Ahead: A Summer Full of Opportunity
We are now entering one of the busiest and most rewarding periods of the year. Some of the key highlights coming up include:
-
Year 11 GCSE Exams – A huge milestone. We’ll be supporting our students every step of the way.
-
Enrichment Week – A chance for students to explore new experiences, develop skills, and enjoy learning in new contexts.
-
Sports Day – Always a highlight of the school calendar, where school spirit truly shines.
-
Student Leadership Interviews – I’m looking forward to meeting the aspiring leaders of our school community in the coming weeks.
-
Year 9 – Big Futures Career Fair – Taking place next week, this event offers fun, hands-on experiences and the chance to explore exciting possibilities for the future.
As always, thank you for your continued support. Together, we’ll make this term one of progress, celebration, and growth.
Best wishes,
Mr Harvey

Uckfield College – Sixth Form Experience
On Monday 23rd June we would like to welcome Y10s to come and visit Uckfield college to help them to start thinking about their Y12 options. There will be a chance to meet the 6th Form leadership team as well as to experience brief introductions to all the level 3 courses on offer. We hope that students will be able to take part in mini-activities in a range of different subjects to help them consider their level 3 options. If you would like to take part, please email k.kirknessoboyle@uckfield.college
