Enrichment Week 2024

What a week we have had here at KAR! It has been so enjoyable to see our students outside their normal classrooms the past few days for their Enrichment Week. We will be sharing detailed reports of all the trips and activities in next week's newsletter, but for now a quick recap of a brilliant week at King's Academy Ringmer.

It started on Monday with a careers fair, Dragons Den and prep for the Year 9 Enterprise Day. The rest of the week has seen students and staff heading out on trips to all sorts of wonderful places, like The Natural History Museum, BuzzActive, Mrs. Doubtfire the Musical and Ditchling Butterfly House. In school, students have been participating in an incredibly diverse and well planned schedule of workshops from stencil art to theatre costume design, making Buddhist mandalas and protest songwriting, STEM engineering and a load of sports!

Year 8 have been out at Blacklands Farm since Tuesday on their camp and from all reports they have had a brilliant time despite some traditional British summer weather! The group have been making the most of their time with activities like kayaking, abseiling, climbing, bushcraft, nightline, team building, bouldering and more. Look out for the full trip report on our socials and in next week's newsletter.

And of course, we can't forget Year 10 who, this week, have been out in the big wide world on work experience! They are getting a taste of a huge range of industries, from engineering to fashion, education to finance, automotive to animal care. Our new senior marketing students are going to write a report for next week's newsletter, so please stay tuned!

A HUGE THANK YOU to our students for embracing the opportunities of this week as well as the challenges. We hope you have enjoyed it and learnt something new about the world and yourself. And finally, an enormous thank you to the Enrichment & Work Experience planning teams for creating such a wonderful timetable of events and all the staff who have supported us to make this a really positive, fun and enlightening week at KAR.

Mrs. Thompson, Marketing Manager.

We look forward to seeing all students participate on the day!

Wakehurst Art Prize

One of our year 7 students, Pearl, came runner-up in the Wakehurst art competition which ran earlier this year, and her artwork (below) will be part of the exhibition in July! Congratulations Pearl on this incredible achievement. I think you will be as impressed as me by this beautiful painting.
