62% per cent of students achieved Grade 4 or higher in both English and Maths, an impressive increase on 49 per cent achieving a grade A*-C last year. Subjects which performed particularly well included Food Technology, with a 100 per cent A*-C pass rate, Art, with 84 per cent, and Geography, in which 80 per cent of students achieved a grade A* to C.

Several individual students excelled, including Ellie Richards who achieved grade 9s in both English Language and Literature as well as 4 A/A*, Will Hugall who achieved a 9 in English Literature and 6A*/As, Isabelle Jones who achieved 8s in English Language/Literature and Maths and A*/A in her 6 other subjects and Gemma Longley who achieved a 9 in Maths along with 6 further A grades.

The school’s new Principal Matt Hillier, who took over in February this year, said: “We are thrilled to see that all our students’ hard work has paid off. I would like to congratulate all of our Year 11 students on their results and wish them every success in the future.” These results are particularly exciting in the year in which the school joined the King’s Group of Academies, and show clearly the impact that new leadership and direction are already making.

In just a few months, students and staff have worked together to improve their school and make sure everyone gets the chance to reach their potential. As well as thanking students for rising to the challenge in this year of change, we would also like to say how grateful we are for the hard work of all our staff, and the support of parents. Both of these have helped make the improved grades we are seeing today possible.

Sir Roger Fry Chair of King’s Group academies believes that the students in Ringmer can achieve the best results in the area and he is looking forward to continued progress over the coming years. It’s been a challenging year for schools across the country with new exam specifications and grading schemes in English and Maths. We are therefore particularly pleased that students and teachers have successfully negotiated these changes to gain this impressive set of results.

Most importantly, these results mean that this year, more Ringmer students than ever have made real progress. They’re now in a great position to make the most of the next phase of their journey, in education, training or employment.
