Attendance

Attendance this week is at 93.55%.  For the first time we have dropped below our target but we know you are doing your best.  Please keep encouraging your son/daughter to come to school.  I know we all have concerns about the coronavirus and I will continue to share guidance with you as I get it.  You can also look on our website for our Covid19 help page. 

 

English Department

From SHAKESPEARE'S GLOBE: In 1605 there was a plague. Theatres were closed. In 1606 Shakespeare wrote Macbeth. In 2020 there was a plague. Theatres were closed. In 2020 we read Macbeth. There is not one mention of the plague in Macbeth, but fear is mentioned over 48 times. The acting company of our ‘startlingly good’ (The Times) 2018 production including Michelle Terry and Paul Ready, reunite for a semi-staged reading of this ominous play about power, fear, the bloody murder of the most powerful figure in the country, and the tenacious ambition of a despotic leader who will seemingly do anything in the pursuit and maintenance of power. #ShakesFear

Library News

We are currently in the process of setting up the Library so the books can be made available to the students safely.  Students will be able to search the Library catalogue online and then request a book. The books will then be delivered to students during tutor time. All books are being safely quarantined once they are returned for at least 72 hours.  It is more important than ever to remember the pleasure in reading a good book and the sense of wellbeing this can achieve Do follow the new library Instagram page sharing all things book related @King's Ringmer Library

 

Science Department - Tassomai

The Science Department will be launching an exciting new learning platform with KS4 students. Tassomai helps children learn more effectively, build knowledge and get the best result. This is achieved through the use of intelligent algorithms. Please encourage your child to complete their daily target. Students who consistently complete their target achieve higher grades. Effective immediately, the 318 and 142 buses will be taking contactless payments but they will still accept cash payments.

 

Safeguarding Focus

World Mental Health Day – 10 October 2020

The World Heath Organisation recognises World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year.  We have been focusing on mental health for a long time at King’s Academy Ringmer so can confidently say that we are following this year’s theme which is Mental Health For All. 

This weekend, take some time to check in with your family members.  You can do this in several ways.  Ask them how they are felling on a scale 1 to 10, go outside to relax and reflect on everything you are thankful for or simply make some time to talk the weekend.
