At King's Academy Ringmer, we take mental health & wellbeing very seriously & we are currently leading the way in highlighting this area by introducing new initiatives such as rolling out our Resilience Action Plan to all students & staff, The Student Wellbeing Ambassador Programme whereby we will be training up to 35 students to become wellbeing experts & restorative peer mentors (RPM) so that they can support some of our more vulnerable students.
We are fully committed to supporting the emotional health & wellbeing of our students & staff and strongly believe that positive mental health is everyone's responsibility & that we all have an important part to play in order to maintain & improve our own & others mental wellbeing.
Our wellbeing motto is "be yourself" We encourage all our students to be individuals & provide them with the tools & resources to be able to achieve this.
We aim to deliver our programme in the following ways:
Universal Support - To meet the needs of all our students through regular assemblies, PHSE lessons, MHEW themes throughout the year (Time to talk day) & through the ethos of the school & wider community.
Additional Support - Some students may require additional support which may involve a 1.1 conversation with their tutor or our lead mental health. They may need a peer mentor for a short period of time, support from one of our wellbeing ambassadors or one of our small group interventions which are led by our teaching assistants & our mental health lead until the matter is resolved.
Targeted Support - Some students may need more differentiated support such as 1.1 interventions with our mental health lead, referral to our school nurse, CAMHS or other specific professional support.
